13th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, Headquarters and Machine Gun Section, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board A34 Persic 28 May 1915.

The HMAT A34 Persic weighed 12,042 tons with an average cruise speed of 13 knots or 24.07 kmph. It was owned by the Oceanic SN Co Ltd, Liverpool, and leased by the Commonwealth until 8 November 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

465 Private Phillip Edwin TAYLOR, a 23 year old Labourer from Horsham, Victoria. He enlisted on 7 December 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 26 March 1917.

 

49 Corporal Ivan Paul Edward VAN ASSCHE, an 18 year old Clerk from Melbourne, Victoria. He enlisted on 20 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 9 February 1919.

 

492 Bugler John Joseph WALSHE, a 19 year old Public servant from Essendon, Victoria. He enlisted on 8 March 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 2 March 1919.

31 Sergeant Theodore Clyde WEIR, a 22 year old Labourer from Stratford, Victoria. He enlisted on 2 January 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 5 April 1918.

46 Corporal Joseph Alfred WESTON, a 30 year old Stevedore from Port Melbourne, Victoria. He enlisted on 1 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 June 1919.

489 Private William WHEELER, a 22 year old Labourer from Mernda, Victoria. He enlisted on 11 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 25 January 1919.

490 Private James Henry WHITE, a 20 year old Farmer from Neerim, Victoria. He enlisted on 24 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 27 April 1919.

491 Private Ernest WHITEHEAD, a 25 year old Labourer from Khancoban, New South Wales. He enlisted on 22 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 7 July 1919.

510 Private William Arthur WILLIAMS, a 30 year old Labourer from Maryborough, Victoria. He enlisted on 31 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 May 1918.

487 Private David Gardiner WILSON, a 26 year old Chauffeur from St Kilda, Victoria. He enlisted on 23 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 19 April 1919.

10 Squadron Sergeant Major Edwin Thomas WILSON, a 35 year old Rail Foreman from Tallangatta, Victoria. He enlisted on 20 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 18 October 1919.

488 Private Herbert John Alfred WINKLER, a 24 year old Labourer from Freshwater Creek via Geelong, Victoria. He enlisted on 11 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 May 1916.
