Renumbering of the Regiment

Over the period of chaos that followed the formation of the Tasmanian Mounted Infantry, regimental numbers were also victim to this confusion. In an effort to reform and regularise regimental numbers, it was determined to re-issue new numbers to the men. On 2 December 1902, all enlisted men in the Tasmanian Mounted Infantry were allotted new regimental numbers. Consequently an order was drawn up listing the new numbers and the allottment to the enlisted man. From that list, although incomplete, it is possible to construct a nominal roll of the Tasmanian Mounted Infantry on that date. From a number of sources but most importantly utilising Tasmanian Mounted Infantry Regimental Order No. 11 of 2 December 1902 issued from Hobart Headquarters the following Nominal Roll of the Regiment is produced.
