SS Hawkes Bay

 

7th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 11th Reinforcement Hawkes Bay Group, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board SS Hawkes Bay on 23 October 1915.

The SS Hawkes Bay was built at Sunderland in 1891 and weighed 4,583 tons. It was owned by the TYSER LINE (G.D.TYSER & CO.)

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

1795 Private William STANSFELD, a 25 year old Farmer from Boorowa, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 September 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 May 1919.

1790 Private Arthur Edmund STARR, a 34 year old Miner from Bulli, New South Wales. He enlisted on 27 September 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 May 1919.

 

1800 Private Harry Nash THOMPSON, a 26 year old Horse trainer from Gunnedah, New South Wales. He enlisted on 4 June 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 March 1919.

1811 Acting Sergeant Neal TOLLEY, a 20 year old Farm labourer from Fern Hill, Inverell, New South Wales. He enlisted on 3 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 7 February 1919.

1796 Private William Evelyn TRAVERS, a 22 year old Labourer from Paddington, New South Wales. He enlisted on 9 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 May 1918.

1799 Private Arthur Ernest TURNER, a 20 year old Station hand from Moorelands Station, Walgett, New South Wales. He enlisted on 13 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

1798 Private William James TYRRELL, a 21 year old Labourer from Martins Creek, New South Wales. He enlisted on 6 July 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 31 January 1918.

 

1834 Private George Tamplin WHITE, a 20 year old Motor driver from South Forbes, New South Wales. He enlisted on 2 September 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 25 October 1919.

1809 Private William Alexander WHITE, a 27 year old Tram conductor from Campsie, New South Wales. He enlisted on 7 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 May 1919.

1806 Private Harold Enoch WHITEHURST, a 24 year old Bricklayer from Bexley, New South Wales. He enlisted on 13 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

1822 Private Percy Albert WILLIAMS, a 30 year old Labourer from Lithgow, New South Wales. He enlisted on 6 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 April 1920.

1803 Private Raymond Gordon WILLIAMS, a 19 year old Labourer from Canowindra, New South Wales. He enlisted on 16 September 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 10 January 1918.

1807 Private Albert Charles WILSON, a 38 year old Labourer from Denman, New South Wales. He enlisted on 13 October 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 18 October 1917.

1804 Private Duncan Claude WRIGHT, a 19 year old Bush labourer from Dogtrap, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 April 1919.
