SS Hawkes Bay

 

6th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 12th Reinforcement Hawkes Bay Group, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board SS Hawkes Bay 23 October 1915.

The SS Hawkes Bay was built at Sunderland in 1891 and weighed 4,583 tons. It was owned by the TYSER LINE (G.D.TYSER & CO.)

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

1542 Private Bertie Thomas FORREST, a 40 year old Estate agent from North Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 25 June 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 January 1919.

1543 Private Patrick FRAZER, a 19 year old Postal worker from Leongatha, Victoria. He enlisted on 9 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.
