Embarkation Roll, 34th Reinforcement

 

SS Ormonde

 

6th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 34th Reinforcement, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board RMS Ormonde 2 March 1918.

The SS Ormonde weighed 14,982 tons with an average cruise speed of 18 knots or 33.33 kmph. It was owned by the Orient St Nav Co Ltd, Glasgow. 

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

3708 Private Ernest Francis BARKER, a 20 year old Horse trainer from Randwick, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 November 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

3709 Private George Norman BARKER, a 34 year old Farmer from Leeton, New South Wales. He enlisted on 13 December 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

3740 Private Stanley BROWN, a 25 year old Labourer from “Ryanstone” via Dalyston, Victoria. He enlisted on 5 May 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

 

3710 Private Walter Malcolm CAMPBELL, a 20 year old Jackeroo from Red Hill via Tumut, New South Wales. He enlisted on 22 October 1917; and subsequently was Discharged in Egypt, 25 April 1919.

3711 Private Lyle Joscelin CHASE, a 39 year old Station Manager from Walgett, New South Wales. He enlisted on 2 July 1917; and subsequently Died of Disease, 11 November 1918.

3712 Private William Frank Algernon CHASE, a 37 year old Station Manager from Howlong Stn Carrathool, New South Wales. He enlisted on 2 July 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 14 March 1919.

3713 Private George Herbert COBB, a 19 year old Jackeroo from Belltrees, New South Wales. He enlisted on 4 May 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 24 July 1919.

3721 Private Thomas Richard CURRY, a 26 year old Station Overseer from CSR Atua Fiji. He enlisted on 21 September 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 27 June 1919.

 

3715 Private Thomas Acheson GORDON, a 19 year old Jackeroo from Walgett, New South Wales. He enlisted on 22 August 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

 

3716 Private John Andrew JONES, an 18 year old Bank Clerk from Glencoe, New South Wales. He enlisted on 1 September 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

 

3717 Private Frank Horace Richard KING, a 19 year old Station Overseer from “Enlourie”, Barraba, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 November 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

3718 Private Frederick John KING, a 19 year old Jackeroo from North Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 17 December 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 March 1919.

 

3720 Private Albert LEABEATER, a 27 year old Labourer from Parramatta, New South Wales. He enlisted on 17 January 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 March 1919.

3719 Private Edmund Beaumont LYNAM, a 21 year old Labourer from Wingello, New South Wales. He enlisted on 16 June 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

 

3726 Private Ronald Rudolf Vincent MARTIN, a 20 year old Station Overseer from Walgett, New South Wales. He enlisted on 22 August 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

3722 Private Archibald Wallace McCOLL, a 20 year old Station Overseer from Bangheet via Bingara, New South Wales. He enlisted on 9 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 20 July 1919.

3728 Private James McIntyre McKEAGUE, a 20 year old Survey draftsman from Petersham, New South Wales. He enlisted on 10 October 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

3729 Private Ronald Ray McKELLAR, a 20 year old Bank Clerk from Ashfield, New South Wales. He enlisted on 14 November 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

3742 Private Robert Frederick SHEPHERD, a 21 year old Labourer from Bungendore, New South Wales. He enlisted on 6 November 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 24 July 1919.

3733 Private Henry Burton SMITH, a 41 year old Grazier from Gundagai, New South Wales. He enlisted on 22 October 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 4 March 1919.

3734 Acting Sergeant Stanley William Mathieson STILLING, a 31 year old Clerk from Summer Hill, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 November 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 26 January 1919.
