The following is a transcription of the War Diary Signal 2359 of the Anzac Mounted Division of their role at the Battle of Rafa, Sinai, 9 January 1917.
To:
Special Instructions to Major Parsons, 3rd LH BrigadeDate: 9 January 1917
Message:You will take your squadron and limbers which will report to you to Rafa tomorrow AAA You will bring away all arms, ammunition, mountain or MGuns etc as may be found. AAA If the enemy is found in occupation you will not engage in action with him but will withdraw AAA If you are attacked when examining positions you will withdraw and will not engage enemy in a fight AAA Report on what you find will be sent by wire as soon as possible to DHQ.
