The following is a transcription of the 2/1 Cheshire Field Company Royal Engineers attached to Imperial Camel Corps Brigade, War Diary Account detailing their role at the Battle of Rafa, Sinai, 9 January 1917.

Lieutenant FM Drake, Royal Engineers in Command.

Masaid 8 January 1917

Trekked with Brigade to Sheikh Zowaiid.

Sheikh Zowaiid 9 January 1917

Preparing water supply for Brigade during Rafa Battle.

Sheikh Zowaiid 10 January 1917

Trekked back to El Arish on 10 January 1917 and prepared for watering Brigade on return.

El Arish 11 January 1917

Developing and supervising water supply for Brigade in Wadi el Arish.
