9th Light Horse Regiment Location - Heliopolis Camp, Egypt.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary -  Campsite changed from Mena to Heliopolis racecourse.

Carew Reynell Diary - On 29 April we moved from Mena to Heliopolis and camped at the race course.

1916

9th Light Horse Regiment Location - Serapeum, Egypt.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - No entry.

1917

9th Light Horse Regiment Location - El Khudri

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Daylight patrols sent to Goz Mabruk and Khirbit el Far, also south east along wadi. The latter patrols exchanged shots with Turkish mounted patrols in neighbourhood of El Lankheilat where about 100 mounted Turks appeared to be established.

At 1500 Khirbit el Far patrol encountered strong patrol of Turkish cavalry about two miles east of Khalasa - Gaza road and withdrew to where they remained in observation. 400 to 500 Turks reported to be digging in amongst ruins near first hills east of the ground.

1800, “B” Squadron took over outpost line, “A” Squadron returning to camp.

One troop “A” Squadron and one troop “C” Squadron holding redoubt.

1918

Monday, April 29, 1918

9th Light Horse Regiment Location - 1½ miles north west of Jericho

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - 2115 Regiment less wheeled transport proceeded at rear of Brigade Headquarters and passing over El Ghoraniyeh Bridge arriving at midnight.

1919

Tuesday, April 29, 1919

9th Light Horse Regiment Location - Zagazig

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - One mounted troop patrolled Isnika - Bahtet - Amrit locating Europeans etc.

Price, Second Lieutenant FG; Nankervis, Second Lieutenant LF; and, Tod, Second Lieutenant PA, promoted to lieutenants.

9th Light Horse Regiment Location - Serapeum, Egypt.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - No entry.

1917

Saturday, April 28, 1917

9th Light Horse Regiment Location - Tel el Marakeb, El Khudri

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - The Regiment with a section of the 3rd Machine Gun Squadron and a detachment of Field Troops left Bir Marakeb at 0600 and proceeded via Abasan el Kebir to El Sha'uth to report to 5th Mounted Brigade for duty.

Arrived El Sha'uth at 1000 and detailed to take over the protection of the El Gamli crossing from a Squadron of Warwicks. Regimental Headquarters established at El Khudri and overlooking the wadi.

C Squadron took up outpost lines on eastern side of wadi covering the crossing.

Patrols of one Sergeant and eight Other Ranks sent to Goz Mabruk and Khirbit el Far and touch gained with the 20th Mounted Brigade at Khirbit el Far. Our patrol at Khirbit el Far exchanged shots with Turkish patrol, killing one man and bringing in his horse and papers.

1800 A Squadron took over outposts from C Squadron.

C and B Squadron each had one troop in redoubt overlooking wadi.

1918

Sunday, April 28, 1918

9th Light Horse Regiment Location - 11/2 miles north west of Jericho

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Nelson, Captain AH, assumed the duties of Administrative Commander, Jericho.

Preparations being made for operations in hills west of Jordan River. No wheeled transport to be taken. Special pack system organised.

1919

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - One mounted troop patrolled El Aslugi - Mit Hamal - El Abbasa sub - sector.
