5th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, Regimental Headquarters Section, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A34 Persic 21 December 1914.

The HMAT A34 Persic weighed 12,042 tons with an average cruise speed of 13 knots or 24.07 kmph. It was owned by the Oceanic SN Co Ltd, Liverpool, and leased by the Commonwealth until 8 November 1917.

376 Signaller John Milton Roy BLACKWELL, a 21 year old Labourer from Chatswood, New South Wales. He enlisted on 26 October 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 28 June 1915.

Honorary Lieutenant Thomas Joseph BRUNDRIT, a 31 year old Crown lands ranger from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 28 September 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 8 November 1915.

Lieutenant William Leckey Ferguson WRIGHT, a 44 year old Clerk from Kelvin Grove, Queensland. He enlisted on 28 September 1914, and subsequently Returned to Australia, 11 July 1917.

388 Acting Corporal Cyril Robert WYLDES, a 24 year old Sawmill hand from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 30 October 1914, and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 December 1918.

 

418 Private Albert John YATES, a 21 year old Farm Labourer from Shannon Brook, New South Wales. He enlisted on 21 October 1914, and subsequently Died of Disease, 16 January 1915, and subsequently was buried at sea.
