1st Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 12th Reinforcements - Beltana Group, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT 72 Beltana 9 November 1915

The HMAT A72 Beltana weighed 11,120 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 14 September 1917.

1704 Private James LYALL, a 29 year old Forest guard from Clarence Town, New South Wales. He enlisted on 1 September 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 4 October 1917.

 

1651 Private Vivian Archie Ross MacKENZIE, a 26 year old Auctioneer from 'Baraneae', Rodborough Road, North Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 29 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 March 1919.

1639 Private John Ernest MADDISON, a 45 year old Grazier from Camden, New South Wales. He enlisted on 24 July 1915; and Returned to Australia, 15 February 1918.

1646 Private Sidney Alfred MADDISON, a 33 year old Overseer from Camden, New South Wales. He enlisted on 28 July 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 31 October 1917.

1643 Private Samuel Edward McARDLE, a 26 year old Miner from Tingha, New South Wales. He enlisted on 25 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

1645 Private Stanley Arthur McCARTHY, a 24 year old Labourer from Sloane Street, Goulburn, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 20 July 1919.
