War Diary account of the 2nd LHMGS, AIF.
The transcription:
9 August
2nd Light Horse Brigade (less 5th Light Horse Regiment) and Wellington Mounted Rifles, with 1st Light Horse Brigade from Royston's Column arrived north of Bir el Abd about 0430. Machine Gun Section held in reserve until 0900 when Lieutenant Zouch with 7th Machine Gun Section is sent to reinforce the Wellington Mounted Rifles. At 1500, Lieutenant Cunningham is despatched, with 6th Machine Gun Section, to report to 1st Light Horse Brigade who are being surrounded. At 1600 the Brigade retired to Khirba.
Casualties:- Killed 2, Wounded 2
