1st Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 7th Reinforcements, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A21 Marere 16 August 1915.
The HMAT A21 Marere weighed 6,443 tons with an average cruise speed of 12.5 knots or 23.15 kmph. It was owned by the Commonwealth & Dominion Line Ltd, London. The Marere was sunk by a submarine's gunfire in the Mediterranean, 18 January 1916.
