HMAT A6 Clan Maccorquodale

 

13th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 8th Reinforcement, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A6 Clan Maccorquodale 6 May 1916.

The HMAT A6 Clan Maccorquodale weighed 5121 tons with an average cruise speed of 15 knots or 27.78 kmph. It was owned by the Cayser, Irvin and Co., Glasgow, and leased by the Commonwealth until 14 April 1915. The Clan Maccorquodale was torpedoed and sunk in Mediterranean, 17 November 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

1705 Private Prideaux Sylvester BYRNES, a 23 year old Farmer from Mildura, Victoria. He enlisted on 7 January 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 12 June 1919.

 

1706 Private Arthur William CLARK, a 20 year old Stockman from Bulimba, Queensland. He enlisted on 28 April 1916; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 27 July 1917.

1707 Private Eric CLARK, a 19 year old Labourer from Edenhope, Victoria. He enlisted on 19 January 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 4 June 1919.

1731 Private Lindsay Alexander CROWE, a 25 year old Motor driver from North Welaregang, New South Wales. He enlisted on 5 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 19 August 1919.

 

50 Sergeant Gilbert Heneage DAVIES, a 35 year old Station Manager from Malvern, Victoria. He enlisted on 7 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 November 1919.

1709 Private Charles George DAVIS, a 24 year old Labourer from Maryborough, Victoria. He enlisted on 13 December 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 May 1919.

180 Private Robert Basil DICKINS, a 21 year old Grocer from Janevale Estate, Laanecoorie, Victoria. He enlisted on 10 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 6 September 1919.

 

1710 Private Percy EDDY, a 26 year old Labourer from Numurkah, Victoria. He enlisted on 26 January 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 May 1919.

 

1711 Private Phillip Charles FARMER, a 23 year old Labourer from Yarraville, Victoria. He enlisted on 1 December 1915; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 9 June 1917.

1954 Private Frank Ormond HART, a 21 year old Wool presser from Kensington, Victoria. He enlisted on 31 May 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 23 June 1919.

 

1955 Acting Sergeant Claude Llewellyn JAGGAR, a 35 year old Pastoral Overseer from Sth Yarra, Victoria. He enlisted on 7 February 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 September 1921.

1941 Private Robert JONES, a 30 year old Clerk from Kensington, Victoria. He enlisted on 16 June 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 4 January 1919.

 

1957 Private Thomas James LEEHANE, a 43 year old Farrier from Carlton, Victoria. He enlisted on 3 February 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 March 1919.

1958 Private Rupert William LITTLE, a 27 year old Auctioneer from Korumburra, Victoria. He enlisted on 19 June 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 August 1919.

 

1967 Private Angus Alexander McDONALD, a 26 year old Farmer from St Arnaud, Victoria. He enlisted on 18 March 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 9 February 1919.

1942 Private Clarence Reginald McEVOY, a 24 year old Public servant from Castlemaine, Victoria. He enlisted on 1 July 1916; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, 2 April 1919.

1962 Private Henry MOSELY, a 23 year old Labourer from Richmond, Victoria. He enlisted on 29 February 1916; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 1 December 1917.

 

1964 Private Arthur Caldwell NUGENT, a 21 year old Farrier from Berringama, Victoria. He enlisted on 26 April 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 6 July 1919.

 

1965 Private William Wilber PETERS, a 27 year old Farmer from Tallandoon, Victoria. He enlisted on 29 April 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 May 1919.

 

1959 Private Leo Augustus RAWSON, a 23 year old Grocer from Fitzroy, Victoria. He enlisted on 3 June 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 January 1920.

1966 Private John RICHARDS, a 20 year old Farmer from She Oaks, Victoria. He enlisted on 15 May 1916; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 6 July 1918.

 

1970 Private Henry George SAVAGE, a 36 year old Stockman from Flemington, Victoria. He enlisted on 1 February 1916; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 15 April 1918.

1947 Private Alan Balmain SIMMONS, a 22 year old Farmer from Morwell, Victoria. He enlisted on 19 June 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 9 January 1920.

1968 Private William SOUTH, a 26 year old Labourer from Stratford, Victoria. He enlisted on 17 May 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 June 1919.

1951 Private Charles SPRIGGS, a 25 year old Labourer from Mansfield, Victoria. He enlisted on 27 June 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 12 June 1919.

1974 Private Frederick George WATSON, a 29 year old Building Contractor from Alphington, Victoria. He enlisted on 15 February 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 18 January 1919.
