HMAT A51 Chilka

 

12th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 2nd Reinforcements, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A51 Chilka 7 June 1915.

The HMAT A51 Chilka weighed 3,952 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the British India SN Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 4 August 1915.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

889 Private Thomas Robert CAMPBELL, a 23 year old Policeman from Colvin, New South Wales. He enlisted on 3 March 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 2 August 1919.

845 Private Jack Vivian CLARK, an 18 year old Driver from Bundarra, New South Wales. He enlisted on 5 April 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 24 July 1919.
