9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - The Regiment undertook routine work for the day.
1917
Monday, December 31, 19179th Light Horse Regiment Location - Khurbetha Ibn Harith, Palestine.
9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - 0600 Enemy observed in small numbers in Khirbit Meidan.
At 0900 Commanding Officer proceeded to 10th Light Horse Regiment to arrange with Commanding Officer 6th Royal Irish Rifles the taking over of the line by the 6th Royal Irish.
At 1530 relief commenced. 6th Royal Irish Rifles taking over A Squadron post. Leinsters occupied the B and C posts.
1630 The Regiment moved via dotted track Sq J6 central to Kefarut arriving there at about 1900.
The Regiment has completed 33 days continuous dismounted work in the hills. Since the Gallipoli Campaign this is the first time the Regiment has done a prolonged period of dismounted work. In many respects the change has proved beneficial. General health of the men in the hills having benefited by it and also many useful points of training have been brought forth which would not arise during the course of mounted work. Special mention must be made of the great hardiness of the pack horses in transporting heavy loads of ammunition etc across almost impossible places.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - One hundred and fifty Other Ranks deloused at El Mina. Church of England voluntary church service was held at 2000. General health of the Regiment during the month good.
