3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 11th Reinforcements Benalla Group, embarked from Adelaide, South Australia on board HMAT A24 Benalla 27 October 1915.

The HMAT A24 Benalla weighed 11,118 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 6 August 1917.

1489 Private William RETALLICK, a 19 year old Labourer from Yadnalue, South Australia. He enlisted on 6 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 19 February 1919.

1491 Private Thomas ROACH, a 20 year old Farm hand from Rose Park, South Australia. He enlisted on 5 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 23 June 1919.

1493 Acting Sergeant Alan Chamberlain RODGERS, a 21 year old Medical Student from Marryatville, South Australia. He enlisted on 16 June 1915; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 2 November 1917.

2779 Private Charles Allan Warwick RUSSELL, a 21 year old Farmer from Unley Park, South Australia. He enlisted on 21 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 4 July 1919.

 

1494 Private Edgar SANGSTER, a 25 year old Plasterer from Kent Town, South Australia. He enlisted on 26 July 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 23 September 1916.

1496 Private Arthur Carl Heinrich SCHULZE, a 23 year old Labourer from Nuriootpa, South Australia. He enlisted on 5 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 May 1919.

1497 Private Walter George SEMMENS, a 21 year old Farm hand from Beetaloo, South Australia. He enlisted on 13 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 April 1919.

1498 Private Andrew William Steele SHEERLOCK, a 24 year old Engine cleaner from Cockburn, South Australia. He enlisted on 2 July 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 13 March 1918.

1499 Private Charles Richard SMITH, a 19 year old Farm Labourer from Monteith, South Australia. He enlisted on 2 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

1500 Private Duncan William SMITH, a 32 year old Labourer from Rosewater, South Australia. He enlisted on 8 June 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

1501 Private John SMITH, an 18 year old Labourer from Naracoorte, South Australia. He enlisted on 18 July 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 2 September 1916.

1502 Private Roy Leland Pilgrim SMITH, a 19 year old Farm Labourer from Stone Hut, South Australia. He enlisted on 28 June 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

1503 Private Roy Sydney Thomas SMITH, a 20 year old Horse driver from Moonta Bay, South Australia. He enlisted on 15 June 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

1504 Private William SMITH, a 19 year old Labourer from Renmark, South Australia. He enlisted on 15 June 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 24 July 1919.

1505 Private William Henry STEWART, an 18 year old Labourer from Port Pirie, South Australia. He enlisted on 14 June 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 9 December 1919.

1506 Private Sydney SULLIVAN, a 24 year old Labourer from Cuthro Station, New South Wales. He enlisted on 1 July 1915; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 25 April 1918.

1507 Private Peter Grant SUTHERLAND, a 20 year old Labourer from Millicent, South Australia. He enlisted on 13 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 June 1919.

 

1510 Private Tom Braithwaite TAYLOR, a 23 year old Station Overseer from St Peters, South Australia. He enlisted on 13 July 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 9 January 1917.

 

1649 Private Frederick Charles WAILES, a 19 year old Farmer from Epping, Victoria. He enlisted on 8 July 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 23 September 1916.

1514 Private Arnold WARD, an 18 year old Driver from Edithburgh, South Australia. He enlisted on 4 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 15 February 1918.

1519A Private John George WILSON, a 31 year old Labourer from Mt Gambier, South Australia. He enlisted on 29 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 May 1919.

1517 Private Roy Gardyn WILSON, a 26 year old Wool classer from Rose Park, South Australia. He enlisted on 25 June 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.
