HMAT A69 Warilda

 

3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 14th Reinforcement, embarked from Adelaide, South Australia on board HMAT A69 Warilda 10 February 1916.

The HMAT A69 Warilda weighed 7,713 tons with an average cruise speed of 16 knots or 29.63 kmph. It was owned by the Adelaide SS Co Ltd, Adelaide, and manned by Australian officers and mainly by Australian crews. The Warilda was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine in the English Channel, 3 August 1918.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

1990 Private Leslie Mortimer BARNES, a 21 year old Motor driver from Colton, South Australia. He enlisted on 25 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 8 September 1919.

1991 Acting Corporal Frederick Percival Graham BARNS, a 26 year old Farmer from Streaky Bay, South Australia. He enlisted on 14 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 12 January 1920.

1989 Private William Henry BARTSCH, a 23 year old Labourer from Port Augusta, South Australia. He enlisted on 27 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

1993 Private Harry BEANLAND, a 21 year old Porter from Mannahill, South Australia. He enlisted on 11 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 20 April 1919.

1992 Acting Corporal Clifford Louis BEOILAQUA, a 20 year old Clerk from Meningie, South Australia. He enlisted on 9 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 20 December 1917.

1994 Private Charles Frederick BLESING, a 21 year old Clerk from Southwark, South Australia. He enlisted on 9 August 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 8 October 1917.

1995 Private Clarence Rosser BRANERGHAN, an 18 year old Engine cleaner from Petersburg, South Australia. He enlisted on 23 October 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 28 November 1916.

1996 Private Charles David BREALEY, a 23 year old Gardener from Kent Town, South Australia. He enlisted on 25 October 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 20 December 1917.

1997 Acting Corporal Vincent Joseph BROGAN, a 26 year old Clerk from Gladstone, South Australia. He enlisted on 2 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 14 January 1919.

 

2000 Private Hughie Donald CAMPBELL, a 22 year old Jockey from Fullarton, South Australia. He enlisted on 17 November 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 4 March 1919.

2001 Private Peter John CAMPBELL, a 19 year old Labourer from Eastwood, South Australia. He enlisted on 19 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 March 1919.
