3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 16th Reinforcement, embarked from Adelaide, South Australia on board HMAT A59 Botanist 26 April 1916.

The HMAT A59 Botanist weighed 7,688 tons with an average cruise speed of 13 knots or 24.07 kmph. It was owned by the Charente SS Co Ltd, Liverpool, and leased by the Commonwealth until 6 December 1916.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:
