3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 11th Reinforcements Hawkes Bay Group, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board SS Hawkes Bay 28 October 1915.

The SS Hawkes Bay was built at Sunderland in 1891 and weighed 4,583 tons. It was owned by the TYSER LINE (G.D.TYSER & CO.)

1523 Private Charles Cahill COCKERILL, a 24 year old Painter from Patersonia, Tasmania. He enlisted on 25 August 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 12 August 1916.

1522 Private Vincent Andrew COLLINS, a 20 year old Jockey from Dromedary, Tasmania. He enlisted on 28 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 10 April 1919.

 

1527 Private Timothy Claude DELANEY, a 19 year old Driver from Moorah, South Australia. He enlisted on 30 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 24 June 1916.

1528 Private Francis Martin DENMEN, a 22 year old Labourer from Pipers River, Tasmania. He enlisted on 18 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 April 1919.

1551 Private Joseph James aka Herman DERRICK, an 18 year old Labourer from Claremont, Tasmania. He enlisted on 8 September 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 5 November 1917.

1525 Private Charles Matthew DICKENS, a 21 year old Carter from Newtown, Tasmania. He enlisted on 15 September 1915; and subsequently Died of Disease, 21 September 1917.

1526 Private Dudley Roy DINGLE, a 25 year old Motor driver from Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 18 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 March 1919.

1529 Private Albert Ernest DOUGLAS, a 21 year old Miner from Sheffield, Tasmania. He enlisted on 13 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 20 December 1918.

 

1532 Private Edwin James Lindon FOX, an 18 year old Labourer from North Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 24 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 July 1918.

 

1534 Private Michael Verdon GALLAGHER, an 18 year old Steward from Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 8 September 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 21 December 1918.

1535 Private John Phillip GRATTAN, a 36 year old Jockey from Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 7 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

1537 Private Daniel Joseph GRIFFIN, a 22 year old Farmer from Whiteford Hill, Tasmania. He enlisted on 1 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 21 May 1917.

1640 Private Percy Thomas SAUNDERS, a 21 year old Labourer from East Adelaide, South Australia. He enlisted on 30 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 27 April 1919.

1647 Private Jack Oscar SEECK, an 18 year old Clerk from Prospect, South Australia. He enlisted on 3 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 3 July 1917.
