HMAT A6 Clan Mccorquodale

1st Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 3rd Reinforcements, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A6 Clan Mccorquodale 6 February 1915.

The HMAT A6 Clan Mccorquodale weighed 5121 tons with an average cruise speed of 15 knots or 27.78 kmph. It was owned by the Cayser, Irvin and Co., Glasgow, and leased by the Commonwealth until 14 April 1915. The Clan Mccorquodale was torpedoed and sunk in Mediterranean, 17 November 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

770 Corporal Horace William BUCKLEY, a 23 year old Grazier from Coonabarabran, New South Wales. He enlisted on 24 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 29 March 1919.

772 Private Rupert BUDD, a 33 year old Labourer from Cudgellico, New South Wales. He enlisted on 26 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

771 Private Malcolm BURBURY, a 26 year old Overseer from Young, New South Wales. He enlisted on 1 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 5 November 1917.

 

Lieutenant Douglas Gordon CAMPBELL, a 27 year old Grazier from Bombala, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 21 October 1917.

774 Private Robert Laing CHAMBERS, a 20 year old Rancher from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 27 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 18 May 1915.

775 Private Henry George CHAPMAN, a 24 year old Labourer from Rockdale, New South Wales. He enlisted on 9 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 25 January 1919.

776 Private Hugh CLARK, a 25 year old Drover from Moree, New South Wales. He enlisted on 25 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 18 May 1915.

823 Bugler William Leo CLINCH, a 20 year old Electrical Engineer App from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 1 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 17 September 1919.

777 Private Charles Ernest COWLEY, a 23 year old Station hand from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 November 1914; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, 14 February 1919.

 

778 Private Joss DAVIS, a 22 year old Farm hand from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 27 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 21 November 1916.

 

779 Private James GALL, a 20 year old Labourer from Fitzroy, Victoria. He enlisted on 14 November 1914; and subsequently Died of Disease, 31 July 1915.

780 Private John Joseph GALL, a 37 year old Labourer from Fitzroy, Victoria. He enlisted on 14 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 30 August 1918.

781 Private Ralph GORDON, a 23 year old Station hand from Randwick, New South Wales. He enlisted on 1 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

 

783 Private Herbert Percival HAMILTON, a 20 year old Grazier from Moree, New South Wales. He enlisted on 4 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

812 Private David HENDERSON, a 36 year old Contractor from Urana, New South Wales. He enlisted on 17 December 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

824 Private William James HEYES, a 24 year old Labourer from Grafton, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 1 August 1919.

825 Private Cyril Emerson HUGHES, a 25 year old Civil Engineer from Deloraine, Tasmania. He enlisted on 20 January 1915; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, 22 October 1919.

 

820 Private William JARMAN, a 22 year old Machinist from Mosman, New South Wales. He enlisted on 25 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 October 1915.

784 Private John JEFFREY, a 20 year old Station hand from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 27 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

786 Private Harry JONES, a 22 year old Station hand from Nackara, South Australia. He enlisted on 12 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 3 November 1915.

787 Private John JOWETT, a 19 year old Labourer from East Greta, New South Wales. He enlisted on 27 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 16 May 1919.

 

788 Private Edmund Kneeshaw KEMP, a 26 year old Student from Dept Public Works Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 May 1916.

 

789 Private Leslie Claude LAUNT, a 25 year old Horse trainer from Moree, New South Wales. He enlisted on 11 December 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

790 Private Charles LEE, a 22 year old Labourer from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 22 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 29 July 1915.

827 Private Robert Henry LEVIEN, a 30 year old Farmer from Bondi, New South Wales. He enlisted on 7 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 19 January 1916.

791 Signaller Roy LIGHT, a 22 year old Farmer from Mangaroo via Bowning, New South Wales. He enlisted on 11 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 10 March 1918.

792 Signaller John Albert LUCAS, a 35 year old Draper from Petersham, New South Wales. He enlisted on 27 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 October 1915.

 

793 Private Thomas MacLEAN, an 18 year old Farmer from Cardiff via Newcastle, New South Wales. He enlisted on 19 November 1914; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 20 August 1915.

813 Private William George SMITH, a 36 year old Station hand from Walcha, New South Wales. He enlisted on 14 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

816 Private George Ernest WALKER, a 21 year old Farm hand from North Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 14 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 4 March 1919.

806 Private William WALLACE, a 25 year old Jockey from Young, New South Wales. He enlisted on 24 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 2 August 1919.

808 Private Herbert WHARTON, a 27 year old Grazier from Bush Hill, New South Wales. He enlisted on 11 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 December 1915.

815 Private Robert WILLIAMS, a 21 year old Labourer from Matong, New South Wales. He enlisted on 14 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

807 Private Frederick WILLIS, a 23 year old Labourer from Ivanhoe, Victoria. He enlisted on 24 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 17 August 1916.
