The HMAT A70 Ballarat weighed 11,120 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London. The Ballarat was torpedoed by a submarine in the English Channel, 25 April 1917 and sank the next day.

1389 Private Edward Ernest BADCOCK, a 32 year old Farmer from Westbury, Tasmania. He enlisted on 26 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.
1387 Private Henry Dundas BASHFIELD, a 23 year old Cabinetmaker from Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 26 July 1915; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 24 April 1917.
1388 Private Raymond Frank BRIMBLE, a 21 year old Labourer from Inveresk, Tasmania. He enlisted on 20 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 26 January 1919.
1390 Private Francis Oliver FOSTER, a 19 year old Salesman from Moonah, Tasmania. He enlisted on 26 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.
1391 Private Douglas James HUGHES, a 23 year old Driver from Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 26 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 12 June 1919.
1392 Private Lionel Gilbert JOHNSON, a 24 year old Engine driver from North Bridgewater, Tasmania. He enlisted on 19 July 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 April 1917.
1394 Private James Calder Law MORISON, a 29 year old Labourer from Hamilton, Victoria. He enlisted on 20 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.
1393 Private Francis James MURPHY, an 18 year old Trucker from North Lyell, Tasmania. He enlisted on 26 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 23 July 1919.
1395 Private James Henry PETTERWOOD, a 21 year old Labourer from Langford, Tasmania. He enlisted on 22 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 March 1919.
1397 Private Tasman George SHADWICK, a 25 year old Labourer from Gretna, Tasmania. He enlisted on 21 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 27 April 1919.
1396 Private Wilfred SMITH, a 31 year old Labourer from Queenstown, Tasmania. He enlisted on 26 July 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 4 August 1916.
1399 Private Roy Vivian SUTTON, a 22 year old jockey from Avoca, Tasmania. He enlisted on 21 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 2 January 1919.
1400 Private George Leonard TRIFFETT, a 21 year old Grocer from New Town, Tasmania. He enlisted on 26 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 23 June 1919.
