1st Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 4th Reinforcements, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A9 Shropshire 17 March 1915.

The HMAT A9 Shropshire weighed 8,130 tons with an average cruise speed of 15 knots or 27.78 kmph. It was owned by the Federal SN Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 5 August 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

851 Sergeant Hector BARTLETT, a 31 year old Labourer from Berowra, New South Wales. He enlisted on 24 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 3 September 1915.

855 Private Thomas BATTEN, a 24 year old Labourer from Kogarah, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 December 1915.

856 Private Arthur Sydney BELLINGER, a 23 year old Drover from Bourke, New South Wales. He enlisted on 20 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 20 June 1919.

853 Private Angus Benjamin BULLOCK, a 22 year old Farmer from Mundaroo, New South Wales. He enlisted on 9 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

 

858 Private Joseph CAHILL, a 31 year old Labourer from Burrowa, New South Wales. He enlisted on 29 December 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 1 September 1917.

857 Private John Joseph CONDELL, a 21 year old Farmer from Wagga, New South Wales. He enlisted on 11 December 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

 

859 Private Dennis DUNN, a 21 year old Labourer from Hillston, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

 

860 Private George James EIPPER, a 24 year old Stockman from Mosman, New South Wales. He enlisted on 27 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 19 January 1919.

 

861 Private James Martin FOLLENT, a 32 year old Bushman from Sth Casino, New South Wales. He enlisted on 29 December 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

852 Corporal Richard Oscar FORD, a 23 year old Bushman from Queenscliff, Victoria. He enlisted on 9 November 1914; and subsequently Died of Disease, 4 February 1919.

862 Private Donald Alexander FRASER, a 25 year old Overseer from Neutral Bay, New South Wales. He enlisted on 13 January 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

 

866 Private Patrick Michael GALLAHER, a 28 year old Labourer from Waylands, South Australia. He enlisted on 28 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 2 January 1919.

865 Private Alexander GIBBONS, a 21 year old Farmer from Bulgandra via Albury, New South Wales. He enlisted on 28 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 1 January 1919.

863 Private Richard GRAHAM, a 21 year old Station hand from Lake Albert via Wagga, New South Wales. He enlisted on 21 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 19 April 1917.

864 Private William James GROGAN, a 21 year old Farmer from Ada Dale, New South Wales. He enlisted on 3 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 12 June 1919.

The HMAT A21 Marere weighed 6,443 tons with an average cruise speed of 12.5 knots or 23.15 kmph. It was owned by the Commonwealth & Dominion Line Ltd, London. The Marere was sunk by a submarine's gunfire in the Mediterranean, 18 January 1916.

1st Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 8th Reinforcements, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A54 Runic 9 August 1915.

The HMAT A54 Runic weighed 12,490 tons with an average cruise speed of 13 knots or 24.07 kmph. It was owned by the Oceanic SN Co Ltd, Liverpool, and leased by the Commonwealth until 27 November 1917.
